Here is something new I am working on, inspired from the smaller panels a few weeks back. A month ago, a scientist came to my studio and asked me how I was able to get these patterns of cracking he saw in my paintings to repeat themselves. He called them fractals, which I actually knew a little about due to some studying of chaos theory. Fractal shapes are often created from chaotic processes, yet display patterns of self-similarity. I thank him for his question and I am now trying to find the answer.

Enjoy!!

found, no. 1

this is a new piece. it echos some work i did about 5 years ago though the execution is very different. hidden behind the facade of the gold surface,  is leftover junk, small particles of old paintings, bits of resin, tape, string etc,. some of the particles are attached others float around when the piece moves…I am going to push this idea a bit further to see where it goes…this is only the first of many..

recycled styrofoam, paper, resin, leftover particles, oil and varnish

48 x 24 inches

please email to inquire about this painting

ENJOY!
